LED Point Source Lights for Landscape Lighting


As landscape lighting rapidly develops in China, outdoor decorative lighting catering to city beautification and commercial advertising is garnering increasing attention and use. With unique advantages such as energy efficiency, durability, eco-friendliness, long service life, and compact size, Sobel LED point sources are playing an increasingly important role in urban landscape illumination. The quality of LED point source lighting for landscapes is primarily reflected in its safety features, such as protection, flame resistance, impact resistance, UV resistance, and resistance to extreme temperatures and salt spray.


  1. Protection: With the design of an integrated sealed structure and independently developed secondary packaging processes, the products reach the IP68 protection level—fully waterproof and usable underwater up to 20 meters. This solves outdoor LED products' issues with waterproofing and susceptibility to electrochemical corrosion, significantly extending their lifespan.
  2. Flame Resistance: LED lights use DC power, which entails high bus currents and heat generation. During construction or when the light sources age, short circuits can occur, causing products to burn. Even if power is cut off, non-flame-retardant products can continue to burn and even start fires. Landscape lighting LED point sources can reach flame-retardant V-0 level, which means they can extinguish themselves.
  3. Impact Resistance: Light sources often encounter vibrations and impacts during transportation and installation, leading to cracked casings, functional failure, or even detachment, causing safety accidents. Landscape lighting LED point sources have reached a high level of impact resistance—IK10—making them less susceptible to damage under mechanical impacts from transport, installation, building maintenance, and natural disasters.
  4. UV Resistance: The current international benchmark is a noticeable change within 96 hours. Through the development of packaging materials, landscape lighting LED point sources show no significant UV resistance degradation within 168 hours, remain resistant to yellowing outdoors, and do not crack on their own for up to 10 years.
  5. High and Low-Temperature Resistance: The current international benchmark for high and low-temperature performance is from -20°C to +40°C. Landscape lighting LED point sources have achieved a wider temperature resistance range of -40°C to +55°C. Even under the extreme cold conditions in Russia, flat cables maintain their flexibility without brittleness or breaking, and the fixtures still operate stably.
  6. Salt Spray: LED point sources for landscape lighting are often made of aluminum alloy, which can suffer from salt spray corrosion in coastal areas. With advancements in packaging materials, these LED point sources have moved away from traditional production modes and adopted an all-plastic packaging design, allowing prolonged use in high salinity conditions.
  7. Materials: Transparent co-blended modified poly engineering plastics are used. These materials maintain stability in weathering, flame-retardance, UV resistance, and resistance to extreme temperatures outdoors. Similar shrinkage rates of the same materials ensure the product is IP68 protected, thus guaranteeing long-term stable operation.
  8. Processes: Independent research and development of secondary packaging production processes enable uniform thermal expansion/contraction stress management when sealing different materials like the encapsulated body and wire sheaths, enhancing production efficiency and reducing labor costs.
