Troubleshooting and Solutions for LED Point Source Lights (Part 1)

With the rapid development of landscape lighting in China, outdoor decorative landscape lighting designed for beautifying urban landscapes and commercial advertisements is gaining increasing attention and application. With its unique advantages, Sobel LED point source lights can be used for decoration, formed into lines for contour lighting, combined into large pixel screens with array distribution, and can synchronize online to display various video and animation effects, becoming a key product in lighting projects. However, LED point sources can encounter various issues in their practical use. I will now provide a detailed introduction to some common faults of LED point source lights and their analysis and solutions.

Fault One: After powering on, the controller's fault light flashes, point sources do not light up, and there are no animation effects output.

Solution: This usually occurs because the controller has not correctly read the card and has not output a valid control program. Possible reasons include:

(1) The SD card is empty, with no effect files.
(2) The program file names on the SD card are incorrect.
(3) The SD card was not formatted correctly before copying effect files.
(4) The effect files on the SD card do not match the light chip and controller model, and you need to contact the manufacturer to recreate the effect files.
(5) Update the SD card and then test to eliminate the possibility of SD card damage.

Fault Two: After powering on, the controller's indicator light is normal and there is an output signal, but point sources show no effect changes?

Solution: The potential causes for this issue generally include:

(1) Check whether the signal wires of the lights are correctly connected to the controller.
(2) External-controlled lights have an input/output direction for the signal. Check if the control signal is entering from the signal end of the first light.
(3) Check whether a model was selected when creating the effect file*. Ensure the LEDs on the SD card are consistent with the chips currently used in the lights.
(4) The lighting fixtures and the controller must share a common ground, meaning the ground (GND) of the fixtures should be connected to the ground (GND) of the controller.
