Determining Factors of the Projection Distance of LED Wall Washer Lights

In everyday life, when night falls, we can see wall washer lights everywhere, and yet they seem to differ each time, which could be due to variations in the power, size, and projection distance of the wall washers. Depending on the requirements of different environments, the wall washer lights used are not the same.

The projection distance of high-power LED wall washers is related to many factors, such as the medium of illumination, the brand of the light source, the color temperature of the product, installation distance, and so forth.

Under the same installation distance and material conditions, products with a low color temperature have better lighting effects on light-colored walls, while products with a high color temperature perform better on dark-colored walls.

For the same exterior wall material and light source color temperature, the closer the light fixture is installed to the wall, the lower the height of the projected wall will be.

With the same light source color temperature and fixture installation distance, different materials of the exterior wall can severely affect the head color effect of the fixture; the more reflective the material is, the worse the lighting effect.

Under the same wall material, installation distance, and color temperature conditions, different chips can also affect the consistency of the overall light effect of the fixture, because different chip manufacturers use different light source packaging processes.

The projection distance of conventional LED wall washers is about 1-5 meters. For example, low-power wall washers use surface-mounted device (SMD) beads and can be 10W, 12W, etc., with a projection distance of around 1 meter. High-power wall washers use 1W high-power beads and can be configured as 18W, 24W, 36W, and so on. 18W is generally suitable for a projection distance of 1 to 3 meters, 24W for 3-4 meters, and 36W for 4-5 meters. If you need to project a further distance, you will require more wattage.
